BHT is a versatile and highly effective anti-oxidant used to protect vegetable oils, butters such as (shea and cocoa) and finished products such as creams, balms and lotions from the effects of oxidation.

It is normally used at a rate of 0.05 – 0.2% depending on the oil or product to be protected.
